Coach House Cafe
About This Spot
Stepping into Coach House Cafe feels like being welcomed into an old English country home nestled gently within the quiet charm of Coombe Wood. The pace here is unhurried, inviting you to settle into a spot—whether at a sunlit table inside surrounded by local artwork or outside where colourful blooms frame the garden’s calm. It’s the kind of place where time seems to stretch just enough to linger over thoughtful conversation or a moment of quiet reflection.
The atmosphere carries a warm, lived-in quality, grounded by the blend of familiar comfort and a subtle creativity that hints at this community’s heartbeat. Soft murmurings of friendly exchanges float through the air, punctuated by the occasional clink of crockery and the hum of activity as staff weave effortlessly between tables. There’s a gentle buzz, especially on weekend mornings when the place comes alive with locals grabbing a breakfast or a leisurely coffee, each visitor blending into the welcoming mosaic.
Food at Coach House Cafe feels like an invitation to slow down and savour simple pleasures made well. The kitchen’s focus on scratch cooking shines through dishes that balance hearty and fresh, with each plate reflecting care and authenticity. From rich breakfasts to steaming coffees, and burgers crafted with attention to flavour, the menu complements the space’s easygoing spirit. Portions here are generous — a subtle nudge to share stories as much as meals.
Adding to the charm, this small café also thrives on the personal touches visible in the art decorating its interiors and the vibrant gardens just beyond its doors. It’s a favorite for those who appreciate places that aren’t polished beyond recognition but instead wear their warmth and imperfections proudly, inviting you to feel truly at home.

Absolutely lovely cafe, in an absolutely beautiful area in a stunning beautiful old English house, surrounded by a beautiful garden with all sorts of different colourful and beautiful flowers. The food was good (DELICIOUS sausages, so tasty and very good quality, they taste like they're local) the place was clean in a beautiful house with friendly staff, and I love the artworks!! It has a nice, laid-back, relaxed atmosphere. I definitely enjoyed my time here.

Jan 2024 visit Tables looked to be sanded down. Much better now. The host is buzzing around on Sunday morning to get everything moving as it got super busy by 10 AM. Good food. Great location and outdoor. Indoor walls are decorated with arts from public who want to sell them. The tables (no.6) were sticky and reflects what other reviews state. I had a full breakfast and for the price paid would expect a big one. A little pricier menu. Good vegetarian options. The staff looked after us well.

Super small café restaurant. They cook everything from scratch. It was Sunday lunch, they were busy so warned us of the wait. We had coffees and they gave us top ups while we were waiting.

Cute place, I didn't try the hot menu but thoroughly enjoyed the Pistachio Cheesecake and Coco Loco smoothie, indoor and outdoor seating and toilets provided. I already love the gardens and the cafe is just the cherry on top.

Gorgeous place! The gardens are stunning and the cafe is very nice. Food portions are huge (a bit too big in my opinion). Coffee is decent and the homemade iced tea was delicious. Service was a bit chaotic but seems to be more inexperience than anything else, staff were all pleasant and well mannered.

A lovely little cafe, come restaurant nestled in the mansion stables, as was. Lovely seating inside and out. Plenty of local artwork, also for sale, adorn the walls bring plenty of colour and intrigue.

Lovely little cafe. Met a friend for a coffee, and to my surprise the place was nearly full of customers. The lady at the counter is really nice and friendly. The service was great and it feels very cosy inside. The Deco is modern but tasteful. Lots of nice paintings all over, but not too many. They have an outdoor area at the back which is nice and quiet. I didn't eat anything, but the menu on the board sounded delicious. I will try it and give you an update on this. The prices seem to be reasonable, and if you fancy a little walk after lunch there is a lovely park and a pond just surrounding the cafe. Definitely worth a visit if you are around!

Always a treat to visit the Coach House, whether for a Full English, a Lunch Time treat (especially home made nachos) or to indulge in lovely cakes. The Chef, owner and counter/waitress staff are so lovely too. They go the extra mile to please their customer. My daughter placed a very fussy (OCD) order and they got it spot on. I also love the artwork displayed and for sale and the immediate, open space and lush, green surroundings. Look forward to visiting throughout the coming year.
